Barbara Stokes and Green Structured Homes Perform Valuable Work For Victims Of Disaster

Disasters, both natural and man-made, bring with them a unique set of circumstances for officials responsible for the recovery of affected areas. And when these circumstances prove to be too much of a challenge for local and state officials the Federal Emergency Management Agency offers the support that is often needed to get the lives of citizens back on track.

Green Structured Homes of Alabama has worked with FEMA to provide relief to many Americans suffering from the effects of a disaster by constructing modular homes to address temporary housing needs. Visit to know more about Barbara Stokes.

The homes constructed by GSH Alabama meet all federal guidelines and provide more than adequate safety and accessibility to residents. Quality materials are used to build the homes and they are easily constructed on site in a matter of days.

GSH Alabama is owned and operated by founder and chief executive officer Barbara Stokes. Stokes’ husband Scott is the company’s acting chief operating officer.

The company has its headquarters in Huntsville, Alabama and rapidly expanded operations to include eight states in the country when the stellar work it performed as a Disaster Relief Construction Contractor prompted FEMA to offer the company a $28.5 million contract to meet the needs of disaster survivors. This brought the total of contracts the company received in a two year period to $45 million.

Fema, which is well-versed at what works and what does not work when it comes to disaster relief, did a complete overhaul of its National Relief Framework in following the Hurricane Katrina disaster that ravaged Louisiana and Mississippi.

The living structured constructed by GSH homes have met all FEMA standards and come complete with kitchens, bathrooms, and sprinkler systems. The homes are energy efficient and are perfect for restoring the quality of life necessary in order for affected individuals to begin the process of rebuilding their lives.

GSH Alabama seems to have developed the perfect blueprint by providing inexpensive living quarters that standardize the cost of the project without sacrificing any of the comfort or functionality that disaster victims inhabiting the structures deserve.

GSH Alabama is looking forward to a long-lasting relationship with FEMA as both continue their efforts to provide disaster relief efforts to Americans. Read more at Business Insider.

Whitney Wolfe Hands The Control To Women

Bumble, the dating application created by Whitney Wolfe in December 2014, has now surpassed 22 million users and has grown to become one of the most popular dating apps available. Bumble’s success relies on its female-centric focus, allowing Whitney Wolfe a unique way to cater to its users and has given women more control over their first communications with Bumble’s male users and is allowing women to avoid the harassment and unwanted contact that has plagued many other dating apps.

Whitney Wolfe, frustrated with the male-dominated social networks, had originally conceived a social network that would require users to maintain and spread good behavior, a “safe” place on the internet where women could interact without feeling harassed, one that empowers and supports members and encourages community growth. Andrey Andreev, the founder of Badoo, convinced her instead to take advantage of the experience she gained as the co-founder of Tinder, and instead, design a dating app focused on giving women the control over messages and set the initial pace of a relationship.

By creating a dating app with a women’s comfort in mind, Bumble helps women avoid the feeling they must answer, kindly, every message by offering a unique solution. By allowing women to begin the interaction after a “swipe right”, women are now empowered to choose who they initiate contact with rather than accept all advances. Placing the power of choice within their sphere has been a refreshing experience for most women and it has allowed them to feel safer as they go ahead in their dialogue.

Whitney Wolfe’s creation with the Bumble app has changed key components of the former dating dynamics. This shift in online dating has earned Whitney Wolfe a place on the Time’s 2018 list of influential people. Expanding the Bumble philosophy with new apps like Bumble Bizz, a women-centric business networking that is destined to challenge Linkedin, and Bumble BFF, a friendship application where women can cultivate new platonic relationships, Whitney Wolfe will continue to hand women more controls in their social worlds.
